Frequently Asked Questions

  • Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model where you pay a monthly fee directly to your primary care doctor. In return, you get unlimited access to basic medical services without additional costs. This includes check-ups, preventive care, and sometimes even basic tests. The idea is to make healthcare more personalized, affordable, and easily accessible for you. With DPC, you build a direct relationship with your doctor, focusing on your overall well-being.

  • Direct Primary Care (DPC) is not a substitute for health insurance; rather, it complements it. Think of DPC as the "Netflix" of healthcare – offering on-demand, personalized care that covers routine and preventive services. However, just as you would still need cable TV for certain channels or events, you'll still need health insurance for catastrophic events, major expenses like surgeries, hospitalizations, brand-name medications, and some expensive lab tests.

In essence, DPC focuses on the day-to-day, providing accessible and personalized primary care, while health insurance acts as a safety net for significant and unexpected medical costs. Together, they create a comprehensive approach to healthcare, addressing both routine needs and unforeseen situations.

  • Absolutely! We're glad to hear that you like your health insurance. Direct Primary Care (DPC) is designed to work alongside your health insurance, not as a replacement. While DPC covers personalized, on-demand primary care services, health insurance is crucial for handling catastrophic events, major medical expenses like surgeries, hospitalizations, and certain tests or medications.

Think of it this way – your health insurance provides a safety net for significant and unexpected healthcare costs, while DPC ensures you have convenient, accessible, and personalized care for your day-to-day health needs. Together, they create a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to your overall healthcare.

  • At Amity Health, your subscription covers the doctor's time and the flexibility to schedule appointments through various channels like text, call, or email. This ensures a personalized and unrushed experience during office visits. However, it's important to note that certain procedures involve significant costs to the doctor, such as medical supplies and equipment for sutures. These additional costs are not included in the membership fee and will be billed separately. Our aim is to minimize overall costs for you, and any extra charges are solely to cover expenses related to necessary medical supplies and equipment, not for profit. Your understanding and support in covering these specific costs contribute to maintaining quality care and services.

  • Dr. Tsay collaborates with Thea Health to offer e-consultations with specialists. This means that your medical records and data can be reviewed by both Dr. Tsay and the specialist, allowing them to discuss and formulate the best approach for diagnosing and treating your condition. If, during this process, it's determined that an in-person visit is necessary, a referral to the specialist can be arranged—similar to the process with any other primary care physician. This ensures a comprehensive and well-coordinated approach to your healthcare, combining the expertise of both Dr. Tsay and the specialist when needed.

  • Please note that any fees for any services at Amity Health are not covered by insurance, medical plans, or Medicare. We operate on a membership-based model where patients pay a monthly fee for comprehensive and personalized primary care services. This fee covers a range of services, and because we are independent of traditional insurance, patients can enjoy transparent pricing, 24/7 access to care, and a focus on building strong doctor-patient relationships. While we are a valuable and alternative approach to healthcare, we are not a replacement for insurance coverage. We recommend maintaining insurance coverage for specialty care, hospitalization, and emergency services. If you have any questions about how this works or our relationship with insurance, feel free to reach out to us.
